Coaching

I love soccer! Indeed, I spent a summer training with a first division soccer team—Club Técnico Universitario—in Ambato, Ecuador (pictured above in 1987). I also played in high school and college, as well as for a decade at Blau Weiss Gottschee in Queens, New York. These experiences helped me to develop my leadership, teamwork, and inclusion skills.

While working as an asylum officer between 2017 and 2019, I started and coordinated a coed inter-office team at the Newark Asylum Office of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services.

In 2022 I earned the National D License—issued by the U.S. Soccer Federation—to coach children and teens, from 6 to 13 years of age (and above).

Between 2021 and 2022 I was a registered coach at Blau Weiss Gottschee. I coached players under the ages of 12. Here is the video of one of the games. I enjoy supporting youth development.
