I teach graduate students, who are working in public and nonprofit institutions or seeking to work in such entities, at the Baruch College Marxe School of Public & International Affairs, which is part of the City University of New York (CUNY). This includes advancing theory and practice via the
Public Management Specialization
in the Master of Public Administration Program. Among its goals, the Marxe School prepares the next generation of leaders "to foster effective, inclusive institutions and societies."
Before returning to CUNY, I served as an asylum officer at US Citizenship & Immigration Services, part of the Department of Homeland Security. In that role, I adjudicated the claims of people who hailed from various parts of the world and who sought protection from persecution.
